Most homeowners do not think about their gutters until something goes wrong. By then, a blockage that would have taken an hour to clear has been sitting long enough to force water back under the roofline, into the fascia, and in some cases down the interior walls. KMG provides residential gutter cleaning and roof cleaning services across New Zealand, keeping the parts of your home that are easy to ignore working the way they are supposed to.

A gutter blocked with leaves, moss, and debris does not just overflow in heavy rain. The standing water it creates accelerates rust in metal gutters, causes timber fascia boards to rot, and in older homes creates a direct pathway for water to enter the ceiling cavity. The repair bill for water damage caused by a neglected gutter is almost always significantly larger than the cost of having the gutters cleaned regularly. It is one of the lowest-cost, highest-return maintenance tasks a homeowner can do.

KMG clears gutters and downpipes of leaf matter, moss, debris, and blockages on residential properties of all sizes. All removed material is bagged and taken off site. Once the gutters are clear, downpipes are flushed to confirm free flow from roofline to ground level. If any issues are identified during the clean — such as sagging sections, damaged joints, or downpipe blockages deeper in the system — we will let you know before we leave so you can address them before they become a larger problem.

Moss, lichen, and algae growing on a roof are not just unsightly. They retain moisture against the roof surface and slowly break down the underlying material, whether that is iron, concrete tile, or membrane. Left untreated, biological growth shortens the life of a roof significantly and can void some roofing warranties. KMG provides residential roof cleaning and biological treatment services to remove existing growth and slow its return, protecting your roof and extending the time between major maintenance interventions.
We assess the roof type and condition before selecting the appropriate treatment method. We do not apply high-pressure water blasting to surfaces where it could cause damage, and we use treatments that are effective against biological growth without causing unnecessary runoff into your garden or surrounding areas.

Water blasting around a home means working close to garden beds, lawns, and planted areas. KMG crews manage water runoff and overspray carefully to avoid carrying grime or chemical residue into surrounding planting. Where necessary, garden beds are covered or rinsed before and after the work. We also make sure gates, fences, and outdoor furniture are left exactly as we found them when the job is complete.

Gutter cleaning pairs naturally with a house wash or driveway water blast. Having everything done in a single visit is more convenient and more cost-effective than booking each service separately, and it means the whole exterior of your home is maintained to the same standard at the same time. Let us know when you enquire if you would like to combine services and we will quote for the full scope in one go.

KMG works across commercial buildings and residential homes, which means the professionalism, equipment quality, and attention to detail you get on a residential job is the same as what we bring to a large commercial contract. Our crews are directly employed, trained to our standards, and take genuine pride in the work. We turn up when we say we will, we look after your property, and we leave the site tidy when we are done.

Working on residential roofs and gutters requires care and the right equipment. KMG crews use appropriate access equipment for each job, work under our health and safety systems, and take precautions to protect your property. You do not need to worry about a crew leaving boot marks across your roof, knocking gutters out of alignment, or leaving the site without clearing up after themselves.

Most New Zealand homes benefit from gutter cleaning once or twice a year. Homes surrounded by trees, particularly deciduous trees that drop leaves in autumn, or homes in high-rainfall areas may need more frequent clearing. If your gutters are overflowing in moderate rain or you can see visible plant growth in them, they need attention now regardless of when they were last cleaned.
Blocked gutters cause water to overflow and pool around the foundation, back up under the roofline and into ceiling cavities, and accelerate rot in timber fascia boards. Metal gutters that hold standing water rust from the inside out. In serious cases, blocked gutters contribute to interior water damage that can cost thousands of dollars to repair.
Most roofs benefit from a biological treatment every two to three years depending on the roof type, surrounding environment, and how quickly growth returns. Homes surrounded by trees or in shaded, high-humidity environments typically see faster regrowth and may need more frequent treatment. KMG can advise on an appropriate cycle for your specific roof after an assessment.
KMG selects treatments appropriate to the environment and takes precautions to manage runoff. If you have a rainwater tank connected to your downpipes, let us know when booking and we will advise on disconnecting or bypassing it during the treatment and for a period afterward. In most cases garden beds at ground level are not significantly affected by roof treatment runoff, particularly where pre-watering is carried out before application.
Not usually. Most residential gutter and roof cleaning jobs can be completed without the homeowner being present, provided access to the property is available. Let us know of any access restrictions, locked gates, or specific requirements when you book and we will make sure the crew is prepared.
Yes. If our crew identifies any issues during the clean including damaged gutters, failing joints, cracked tiles, or areas of concern on the roof surface we will let you know before we leave. We do not carry out repairs as part of the standard service, but we will give you a clear description of what we found so you can arrange the appropriate follow-up.
Contact our team with your address and a brief description of your property and we will provide a clear, no-obligation quote. Most residential gutter and roof cleaning jobs are completed in a single visit.
