Most people book a water blast because something looks bad. The smarter reason to book one is because algae on a driveway is a slip hazard, mould on decking accelerates timber deterioration, and a path that has not been cleaned in years is doing quiet damage to the surface underneath. KMG provides residential water blasting across New Zealand with crews trained to match the right pressure to every surface so the job gets done properly without leaving damage behind.

KMG provides water blasting for a wide range of residential surfaces including:
Concrete and asphalt driveways accumulate all kinds of dirt, algae, and moss that make surfaces look tired and become dangerously slippery when wet. A professional water blast restores the surface and removes the slip hazard.
Timber and composite decking is particularly susceptible to mould and algae growth in New Zealand's climate. Water blasting removes biological growth and prepares the surface for staining or oiling if required.
Garden paths, courtyard paving, and front entrance areas accumulate grime and biological growth that builds up gradually. Water blasting restores the original surface colour and removes the slip risk underfoot.
Timber, concrete, and masonry fences and retaining walls respond well to water blasting, removing years of weathering, staining, and biological growth in a single visit.
Steps and entry paths are where slips actually happen, and they are the first thing a visitor walks on. Treads, risers, and landings are blasted with the rest of the hard surfaces.
Pool decking, patio slabs, and courtyard paving hold algae and grime in the shaded sections and go slippery underfoot. Blasting restores the surface and takes the slip risk out of the areas people walk on barefoot.

Water blasting around a home means working close to garden beds, lawns, and planted areas. KMG crews manage water runoff and overspray carefully to avoid carrying grime or chemical residue into surrounding planting. Where necessary, garden beds are covered or rinsed before and after the work. We also make sure gates, fences, and outdoor furniture are left exactly as we found them when the job is complete.

After a house wash, treated surfaces need a short period before normal use resumes. As a general guide:
Treated paths and deck surfaces should be avoided for at least two to four hours after the wash to allow chemical treatments to work and surfaces to dry. Your KMG crew will advise on the specific timing for your job based on the products used and weather conditions on the day.
If your driveway has been washed, allow it to dry fully before parking on it — typically two to four hours in dry conditions.
Pre-watering before the wash significantly reduces any chemical impact on surrounding planting. In most cases gardens are not affected, but we recommend avoiding the treated area until the surface has dried and any runoff has dispersed.

Many homeowners get the best result by combining a water blast of hard surfaces with a full house wash in the same visit. The house wash addresses walls, cladding, rooflines, and fascia while the water blasting takes care of driveways, paths, and decks. Having both done at once is more cost-effective than booking separately and leaves the whole property looking consistently well maintained.

KMG pre-waters all garden beds, lawns, and planting around the house before applying any chemical treatments. This dilutes overspray at ground level and significantly reduces any impact on surrounding vegetation. In the vast majority of jobs there is no visible effect on plants or lawn. If you have particularly sensitive plants, let us know when you book and we will take additional precautions.
Yes, once treated surfaces have dried. We recommend keeping pets off treated surfaces and away from the work area during the wash and for a short period afterward while surfaces dry. Let us know when booking if you have pets and we will give you specific guidance based on the products being used.
Not usually. Most residential house washes are completed without the homeowner needing to be present. We do ask that garden taps are accessible for water connection and that pets are secured during the wash. Your KMG crew will let you know if there is anything specific required for your job when they confirm the booking.
Most standard residential house washes take between two and four hours depending on the size of the home, the level of soiling, and whether additional surfaces such as decks, paths, and fences are included. Your crew will give you a time estimate when they arrive.
A professional house wash removes the vast majority of mould, algae, lichen, and biological growth from exterior surfaces. In some cases where growth has been present for a long time and has penetrated the surface, some staining may remain after the wash. Your KMG crew will let you know what to expect before work begins.
Soft washing uses low pressure combined with specialist cleaning solutions to safely remove mould, algae, and grime from exterior surfaces without the risk of damage that high-pressure water blasting can cause on some cladding types. KMG selects the appropriate method for your home's exterior based on the cladding material, condition, and level of soiling.
